We now offer limited release cans of our most popular styles! Each month, new cans are added to our available inventory. We seek to produce as many cans as possible per month, but once a variety sells out, it’s gone.

Cans are available at the brewpub and can be purchased from a bartender or server.

If you have any questions, shoot us an email at contact@vaultbrewing.com

Upcoming Brews

Wondering what’s going on behind the scenes at Vault?  Well we’ve got some great beers coming up for you….

Trial & Error Series:

Come into Vault any Tuesday and you’ll find a new beer on tap as part of our experimental Trial & Error Series!  The idea here is that we make a small amount (5-15 gal) of a special beer designed to test one or more specific ingredients. We typically do these types of experiments in the brewery, but once a week, we give you the chance to peek behind the curtain and give us your insight into the beer related decisions we make here every day. We’ll be experimenting with new styles, hops, yeast strains, adjuncts, etc.  Try a glass for only $3 and fill out the attached card to let us know what you think.

*Trial & Error beers are not available to-go*

If you want a heads up on what’s coming, follow us on Facebook or Instagram (@vaultbrewing) where we post the details as each one is tapped.

Breakfast Stout and Rye Pale Ale Release 2/19

On Sunday, February 19th we are releasing cans of Breakfast Stout and Rye Pale Ale

Breakfast Stout is brewed with oats, VT maple syrup, and conditioned on whole coffee beans. 7.5% ABV. We packaged this beer in nitro cans using our proprietary widget-less process. Please follow these directions after purchasing:

  1. Keep cold (the cans are heavily pressurized and unfiltered, keep them cold to prevent further build up of pressure)
  2. Don’t drink from the can (as much as we love cans, these are designed to be poured into a glass)
  3. Pour vigorously into a 16oz pint glass (don’t be shy, dump it straight into the bottom of the glass)
  4. Watch the cascade effect, wait for the head to form, and enjoy

$15/4pk, 200 cases available, limit of one case per person.

Rye Pale Ale is our delicate and delicious all-day beer brewed with three types of rye and hopped with Simcoe and Mosaic. Notes of pine, spicy rye, peach and strawberry. 5.4%

$14/4pk.  200 cases avaialble, limit of one case per person.

This release will follow our new 2017 policy of online can reservations. Read below for more information:

We want everyone to have the same opportunity to access the limited cans we create. In order to best achieve that goal, we will be releasing each series of cans ONLINE one day before the physical release. So, on SATURDAY February 18th, you will have the opportunity to reserve up to the full allotment of each beer through our online store during a 24 hour window from midnight on Friday to midnight on Saturday. Can reservations MUST be made during those 24 hours and will be assigned on a first come basis. At midnight on Saturday, we will remove the cans from the online store.

On Sunday, we will announce that any remaining cans not pre-sold will be available at the bar when we open at 11:30am. If you reserved your beer, there is no need to line up in advance. Enjoy your Sunday morning, have some coffee, read the funnies, and come by whenever you feel like it. Life’s too short for lines folks.

You’ll have 7 DAYS to pick up the cans at the bar by presenting your ID. If you do not pick up within 7 days, your order will be refunded and cans will be forfeited. *Unfortunately, we cannot ship beers that have been purchased online due to PA liquor laws*

Our goal here is simple: more beer and less lines. We have lots of great cannings scheduled for this year and we want to share them with as many of you as possible.

We can’t thank you enough for your support and we hope you’ll join us as we continue to strive to bring you the best beer experience we can.

For the love of beer,

About the beer…

This year’s Breakfast Stout clocks in at a cool 7.3% ABV and was packaged in 12oz cans. The recipe consists of malted oats, Vermont maple syrup, Colombian coffee beans, vanilla, and lots of specialty malt. Bottle Release: Belgian Golden Ale Trio

On Sunday, Jan 31 we’re releasing the next in our Artist Series, the Belgian Golden Ale. This year there are three variants available: Chardonnay Barrel Aged, Tequila Barrel Aged, and Apple Brandy Barrel Aged.

The featured artist this time is Michael Smith (www.mesmithdesign.com)

Michael is a graphic designer with a passion for high-quality design. He is a fan of all things mid-century and obsessed over a good pattern. The idea for the labels came from his love of letterforms and patterns. Each aspect of the design has a meaning and the colors relate to the both beer and the original liquor in the aging barrel. The patterns all tie back in some way to the barrels, Belgium and beer in general. The resulting series allows each bottle to stand alone but together they create a uniquely aesthetic collection.

All three variants will be released on at noon this Sunday and are limited to two of each bottle per person, per transaction. 22oz/$15

Olde Ale Bottle Release (Artist Series)

UPDATE: We have sold out of the “Gin” version but we have more “Rum” bottles and prints available!

This is a new label art series where we work with local artists to design labels inspired by the beer. To kick it off, we’ve paired up with Keith Warren Greiman, From Keith:

Keith lives and works in Philadelphia, PA. Greiman’s paintings, prints and drawings focus on humans as conduits of the gritty, vibrant energy that propels our day to day living. His bright and animated images of real and supernatural beings depict life, captured in experience, as ascendant, melancholic and at all times wild.

Keith’s work has been shown in various galleries and publications including the LA Times, Village Voice, Newsweek, the Fader, Ace Hotels,  Fantagraphics, the Utne Reader, and Willamete Week. His work has been recognized by American Illustration, The Society of Illustrators and Graphis.

We asked Keith to create his visual interpretation of the beer and turn his art into the label for the beer. We now present to you, our Barrel Aged Olde Ale:

VaultBrewing_OldAle_labels__v2_CS5

VaultBrewing_OldAle_labels__v2_CS5VaultBrewing_OldAle_labels__v2_CS5

This beer was brewed over a year ago and spent time separately in two different types of barrels, Peruvian Rum, and a Bourbon barrel most recently used to age Gin. The resulting beers are completely unique.

The Rum Version has notes of raisin, underripe berry, hard candy, molasses, and oak

The Gin Version has notes of juniper, cardamom, fresh fruit cake, and winter spices

The beers will be released at 12:00 noon on Dec 20th. $15 per bottle, $5 per glass. There is a limit of 2 Gin, 4 Rum, and 4 glasses per person. 250 Gin and 500 Rum Bottles are available.

Nitro Can #4: Rye Pale Ale!

The fourth beer in our Nitro Can Series will be released on Sunday, June 28th!

For this batch, we decided to go a different direction from the Coffee Stouts. We wanted to see what a nitro would do to a Rye Pale Ale. The spicy character of the rye balances the smoothness of the nitrogen and the vigorous pouring releases all those great hop aromas from the whole flower Simcoe we used in the dry-hop. It’s unique and unlike anything you’ve ever tasted.

As with the prior releases, we will be opening our doors at noon on Sunday (28th). There will be a 1 case limit per person

Nitro Can Exp. 003 Release!

On Sunday, May 17th, we’ll be releasing the next installment in our Nitro Can Experiment Series! No. 3 is a Coffee Stout made with single origin Guatemalan beans from Finca La Pastoria roasted by our pals at ReAnimator Coffee.

coffee stout 3

Why the “experiment” you may ask? Good question:

We are the first brewery in the world to successfully can a nitro beer without the use of a widget in the can. “Widgets” are plastic containers that are either fixed to or float in the can and get “charged” so that when you open the can, the nitrogen is released and cascades in the glass as you pour. This technology is helpful but has three major flaws: 1) it’s very expensive and wasteful 2) floating widgets are not available unless you are a Diageo brand 3) the fixed widget idea is flawed as it results in a volcano effect once you open the can.

We’ve invested in the necessary equipment and developed the process that allows us to can a nitro beer without that pesky widget. The only catch is your have to pour vigorously. The nitrogen trapped in the beer requires agitation to escape. Without a widget, you need to provide that agitation via a straight pour directly in the bottom of the glass.

We’re continuing to perfect this process through this series of experiments and plan to launch a much larger packaging operation later this year which will be set up to produce mass amounts of our cans.

This latest experiment is testing a few variables: 1) Different coffee 2) Different roaster 3) Different label design 4) Different process. Please give us feedback on No. 3 and let us know what you think!

Deck Opening Party 2015

Sunday  |  May 3  |  1:00-4:00pm

Each spring we throw a party outside on our deck to celebrate the warm weather. There will be organic fruit beer (made in collaboration with Newtown based Greenstraw), free passed hors d’oeuvres, and live music.

deck party

We’ll be pouring our unique cold-pressed-juice beer concoctions straight from the deck! No need to go to the bar. Our collaborations include watermelon, strawberry, basil, raspberry, and pineapple juices. Two unique fruit-infused-blondes will be available.

Plus, we will be releasing an additional 6 cases (144 cans) of our Nitro Can Coffee Stout (Experiment No. 2)! These cases were tucked away and set aside for this event, so if you missed out on the initial release, now is your chance!craft cans coffee stout

The festivities start at 1pm this Sunday!

Russian Imperial Stout

We’re releasing our one year apple brandy barrel aged RIS on draft today!

Most of the batch went to bottles but we saved two kegs for this sneak preview. It’s big and bold with an intense apple bandy aroma atop notes of vanilla, chocolate, anise, dark fruit, and oak. Bottles will be in your hands soon enough but until then, enjoy a glass here in the brewpub. Doors open at noon!

RIS Barrel

Nitro Can Coffee Stout

On March 29th, we proudly present to you a creation that has been months, if not years in the making: our Nitro Can Coffee Stout.

**UPDATE** WE HAVE SOLD OUT.  THE NEXT CAN RELEASE WILL BE ON MAY 17.  STAY TUNED FOR MORE UPDATES.

We’ve been developing methods for creating a nitro can without a widget (the little ball in traditional nitro cans). The process we developed, along with Chart Industries and River City Cannery, enables us to nitrogenate our beer during the packaging and produce a finished product that pours just as well (if not better) than a nitro tap.

We will be producing lots of these cans in the coming months and you can expect a variety of beers to come out of these experiments including multiple Coffee Stout varieties, malt-forward beers, and Sweet Potato Ale (look for that in the fall).

Our first canning run produced roughly 2000 cans. These will be made available to the public directly from the brewery on March 29th. You can pick them up for $3/can (the limit will be established day of). This is our introductory price to test market reaction on a wider scale. After we sell out (which may very well happen that day), we’ll be hosting limited releases at bars in the Philadelphia area. You can currently find cans at MOMs in Doylestown.

Storage and Pouring Instructions

As you may have guessed, this type of package requires a “vigorous pour.” Contrary to your muscle memory, please pour the beer vigorously into the glass – this is an important step as it mimics the effect otherwise produced by the restrictor plate in a nitro tap. Pouring vigorously agitates the solution and allows the nitrogen to break out and cascade in the glass. If you pour gently, you will end up with a beer with no head.

Please choose a glass with a flat bottom and tapered lip. Believe it or not, there is a science behind glass geometry and nitrogenation.

For optimal flavor, enjoy fresh, do not age.

If you have any questions regarding storage, shelf life, or pouring, please feel free to contact us at james@vaultbrewing.com

Beer Releases

Our beer release program focuses on bringing you new, unique, and rare beers that are designed specifically for bottles or cans.

Below is our anticipated schedule of beer to release (actual dates or beers may change. Beer is a living thing, it tells us when it’s ready, not the other way around…)

  • Mid April – Russian Imperial Stout (Brandy Barrel Aged)
  • Mid May – Nitro Can Coffee Stout Experiment No. 3 (with coffee from ReAnimator)

RIS Label

Wondering where we got the inspiration for our labels? You may notice that the design mimics the format found on bank checks with the “Pay to the order of,” date, number, amount of alcohol spelled out, and the signature of the Brew Master.  This design (as well as the handwriting) comes from actual checks that we found in a hidden attic in the building that dates back to the 1800s.
You can see some of these checks in a display we have on the wall in our upstairs dining room (where the Vault is)

Come join us on September 27th all-freakin-day-long for some German joviality which includes our German beer (Bavarian Hefeweizen and Kölsch), stuffing you with wurst until you call uncle, and a keep-the-stein celebration!

Lincoln Day!

On February 12th, we’re celebrating Abe Lincoln’s birthday!

Aussie IPA Series

Over the next few months, you will see some cool new IPAs from Vault Brewing.  Due to the relationship with our sister brewery in Australia (Mornington Peninsula Brewery), we are able to secure WHOLE FLOWER hops from Australia!  These were freshly harvested and sent to us last week (we are the only US brewery to use whole flower Australian hops).  We have 4 different varieties and the first one will be on tap next week.

The four varieties are:

Summer, Ella, Galaxy, and the brand new hop called “Victoria’s Secret.”  We bet the last one makes one sexy IPA…

Victoria’s Secret IPA goes on tap first – keep close to our facebook page for updates.

*UPDATE 7/9 – Victoria’s Secret IPA is now on tap! Up next is Galaxy IPA followed by a special “Aussie Blonde”

*UPDATE 7/25 – Galaxy IPA is now on tap! Victoria’s Secret is gone but this next Aussie IPA is super tropical fruity.

*UPDATE 8/9 – Summer Wheat Pale Ale is on tap! Galaxy IPA has kicked. Ella IPA goes on tap next around 8/23

Why Whole Flower?

Whole flower (or “whole cone” or “whole leaf”) refers to the unprocessed and pure state of the hop flower. Most breweries use pelletized or extract versions of hops, which are easier and cheaper to work with and store.  We believe whole flower hops to impart a better flavor and aroma into our beer and generally prefer to use ingredients in their natural state where possible, rather than in adulterated forms.
